Types of Modification
  • Polymers and Rubbers
  • Chemicals
  • Fibers
  • Other Additives
Typical Polymer and Rubber Modifiers
  • Plastomeric Thermoplastic Polymers
    • Polyethylene PE
    • Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer EVA
    • Ethylene-Methyl Acetate Copolymer EMA
    • Ethylene-Butyl Acetate Copolymer EBA
  • Elastomeric Thermoplastic Polymers
    • Ethylene Ter-Polymer ETP

  • Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene Copolymer SIS
  • Styrene-Butadiene SB
  • Styrene-Butadiene Rubber SBR • Natural Rubber NR • Crumb Rubber CR
  • Typical Polymer and Rubber Modifiers

The benefits that can be derived from such modifications can be:

  1. Improved stiffness and cohesion
  2. Improved consistency
  3. Reduced Temperature susceptibility
  4. Improved binder-aggregate adhesion
  5. Improved flexibility, resilience and toughness
  6. Improved resistance to in-service ageing
Modification can be done with fiber, warm mix solutions, anti-stripping properties, etc. All these solutions can be custom developed and delivered by ART.

Our Generations of Modified Bitumen

MB 1000 Series

MB1000 Series was developed by ART for the booming requirement in the early 2000’s when CRMB and PMB was being introduced.

MB 2000 Series

The MB2000 Series was developed to tackle severe rutting and fatigue cracking in high-temperature, heavy-load regions, delivering enhanced performance beyond the MB1000 Series.

MB 3000 Series

The MB3000 Series was developed to provide customers with performance-grade bitumen options tailored to project needs, aligning with global practices that emphasize real-world binder performance over empirical lab standards.

MODIFIED BITUMEN

Customized Modified Bitumen delivering performance, durability, and value.

MODIFIED BITUMEN

ART currently supports its Third Generation of Modified Bitumen and has been manufacturing Modified Bitumen since 2000. Specializing in Polymer enhancements, ART has developed its portfolio to cater to all performance requirements of a client by providing them solutions through value engineering. Modified Bitumen are more expensive than regular binders but overall they improve the pavement’s life cycle and thus reducing the pavement’s life cycle cost!

TAILORED BITUMEN

Tailored Bitumen is Bitumen which has undergone certain processes which may include the reaction/addition of various additives (such as Polymer) to attain certain targeted properties and/or desired functions. It is also known as Modified Bitumen.
